A few months ago Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth announced a plan to create an ICE detention center at Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst, located in Pemberton Township, NJ. The base, which is located in Burlington County, has been deeply criticized by NJ residents and members of the county government.
The community has been united against Hegseth’s ICE detention center plan since its announcement and have been working to fight it on several fronts. Recently a series of monthly protests at the gates of the Joint Base have started to apply public pressure on the local, state, and federal government to stop the proposed detention centers creation.
On September 14, several local groups gathered together around 60 people for September’s protest in order to keep applying public pressure. The community response was overwhelmingly supportive with only a handful of hecklers.

NJ residents refuse to tolerate a concentration camp in our communities. Until this proposed project is scrapped action and protests will keep happening.
