Palestinian Genocide Complicit Business Targeted In Glen Rock, NJ

Earlier this week a Starbucks in Glen Rock, NJ was targeted for the company’s complicity in the ongoing genocide against Palestinians in Gaza.

The Starbucks sign was defaced with red paint and stickers were placed on the signs posts, articulating that the action was done in solidarity with Palestine.

This sticker reads “there was never a land without people” referencing the zionist lie that Palestine was empty and open for settlement.

This sticker reads “from the US to Palestine abolish the settler state” showing the similar parallels between the U.S. and the state Israel.

Across the globe Starbucks stores and their larger corporate entity have been ragged due to their support of Israel and the ongoing US backed genocide in Palestine. Starbucks has felt the heat from its actions, with an international boycott in effect, workers going on strike, sit ins occurring en masse, and protestors preventing stores from conducting daily business. The company is estimated to have lost over 12 billion US dollars in revenue so far from the boycotts and actions of protestors. Some stores have even been permanently shuttered because of community response.

At the Glen Rock Starbucks store, management was forced to call the police and report the damage to the sign, disrupting the usual flow of morning business and reallocating working hours to deal with the situation. This no doubt has cost the business money on a few different levels, but also revealed the company’s actions to a sector of the public that is unaware of Starbuck’s complicity in the Palestinian genocide.

The NJ mass media and state were quick to brand the action as “antisemetic” and declared it a “hate crime”. The the state’s response reveals its true motivation however, further reinforcing its relationship to Israel and its own power as a settler colonial entity.
